Due to the growth of the use of the internet, also the quantity and scope of illegal activities such as identity fraud and purchase fraud has increased. This includes phishing, credit card theft, personal information exposure, PayPal fraud or money transfer fraud. Furthermore, it also includes internet marketing and retail fraud as well as further problematic activities and developments.
A very common form of Internet fraud is the distribution of rogue security software. However, although the security sector is constantly developing new solutions for mitigating the problem, the criminal individuals are quick in finding new ways for their internet fraud activities.

Phishing: Phishing is the deceitful process of attempting to retrieve sensitive data such as passwords and credit card details using communication over networks to appear as a trustworthy entity such as a popular social web site, bank or IT administrator. Phishing attempts to persuade users to provide sensitive data by email or messaging.
Personal Information Exposure: Personal information should always remain confidential and should not be provided to others over the network. Especially information related to credit cards, bank details, passwords, online store accounts, etc. needs to stay secure.
Social Aspects: It is a major challenge to protect people from Internet fraud, if they are not familiar with the technology. We might have to think about new learning or training techniques or even about new technological solutions.
